EWGA and Women in the Golf Industry Create Formal Alliance

The WIGI White Paper was created as a result of the 2004 Golf 20/20 program which spotlighted the growing women’s market. What Women Want – from Golf was made available for the first time at the 2005 Golf 20/20 meeting in November of this year. Information in What Women Want – from Golf came from variety of female industry experts who have specializations in instruction, women’s equipment, women’s apparel, communicating with women and other golf-related topics. It is presented in an as told to format, conversationally. The document is available as a PDF download from the Golf 20/20 website www.golf20/20.com http://www.golf2020.com/industryreports.asp “We were pleased to be able to provide additional insight into the women’s market,” said WIGI president and co-founder, Kathy Bissell who worked on the project. “ We consider this a first version, a What Women Want 1.0, if you will. Our intention is to add to it and update it and release additional versions over time to provide even more information on how the golf industry create more women best customers.” Also included in the information is a summary of past studies done on the economic impact of women golfers. WIGI anticipates having an updated version within six months. An announcement will be made when a new version is available. Box 364 Hamburg, NJ 07419 973-209-1627 PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL, January 31, 2008 Women in the Golf Industry (WIGI) has affiliated with Executive Women’s Golf Association (EWGA) in a formal alliance to further strengthen the growth and impact of women in golf. Under the agreement, EWGA and WIGI will promote the common business interests of women golfers and those who work in the sport of golf. The EWGA will provide WIGI with administrative support and WIGI members will also become members of the EWGA. Further, WIGI members will enjoy an expanded industry-based women’s organization and together, support growth of the game activities. “As the premier force for promoting women’s golf, the EWGA welcomes this alliance that reinforces the importance of women supporting women – for both those who work in the golf industry and those who play the game,” says Trish Davis, chief operating officer of the EWGA. As part of the agreement, Davis will serve on the WIGI board of directors. Based in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., WIGI was founded in December of 2001 to provide a networking group for women who work in the golf business. Members come from all aspects of the industry including tournament management organizations, equipment companies, golf management companies, golf organizations, web designers, employment services, apparel, shoes, gloves, custom equipment, teaching and the media.
